Public Service Announcement from Uncharted Shores Academy

Uncharted Shores Academy in Crescent City would like to clarify an important issue that occurred earlier today.

At approximately 1:22 PM, an emergency alert was accidentally sent to families indicating that ICE activity had been confirmed at the main campus. This message was sent in error. There was no ICE presence at the school, and there has been no reported ICE activity at any USA campus or at any other school in Del Norte County.

The message was inadvertently sent while staff were updating pre-written emergency notification templates to ensure compliance with California Senate Bill 89, which requires schools to notify families if there is a credible report of ICE activity on campus. The alert was mistakenly sent instead of saved.

Within minutes, the school issued follow-up messages clarifying that the original notification was incorrect.

Uncharted Shores Academy sincerely apologizes for the confusion and concern this error may have caused students, families, and the broader community. The school is reviewing internal procedures to prevent similar mistakes in the future.
