Mattole Road Closure Planned Near Blue Slide Day Use Area for Culvert Repairs

Construction crews from California State Parks’ North Coast Redwoods District will close a section of Mattole Road near the Blue Slide Day Use Area next week to replace a damaged culvert that has caused road erosion.

Work is scheduled to begin as early as October 22 and is expected to take two business days, weather permitting. The project will install a new 3-foot-wide, 40-foot-long metal culvert and repair the damaged roadway.

For public safety, Mattole Road will be closed between Highway 254 (Avenue of the Giants) and Grasshopper Road during construction. Electronic message boards will alert drivers along Highway 101 and Mattole Road about the closure.
