It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, Everywhere You Go
Sanford tells Santa what he wants for Christmas

“Rain, rain, go away, come again some other day,” chants apparently worked well in driving off the rain this past Friday evening as the community welcomed the Christmas Light Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting. A hearty THANK YOU goes to the Potter Real Estate Group for its unwavering support of this beloved community tradition.

The holiday spirit didn’t stop there. Over the weekend, the Del Norte County Historical Society and Museum joined forces with the Crescent City Women’s Club to brighten the windswept paths of Battery Point Island. Volunteers wrapped white rope lights around historic structures overlooking the Pacific. Kudos to Harlan Watkins, Historical Society VP Jon Larsen, President Sean Smith, and Women’s Club President Liz Freeman for bringing new holiday beauty to our iconic lighthouse.

Last year, floodlights illuminated Battery Point. This year, the team went a step further, outlining the lighthouse itself—creating a postcard-perfect holiday scene visible from shore.

Across the county, businesses are doing their part to spread Christmas cheer. One standout was B&N Market on Lake Earl Drive, which hosted a packed holiday gathering capped by an unexpected visitor: Santa Claus himself. Children lined up eagerly for photos, candy canes, and whispered wishes. Even a few grown-ups couldn’t resist asking the Big Man what he might bring them this year. THANK YOU, Santa, for making two memorable stops for Del Norte families.

Community giving is also underway. Potter Real Estate Group and Enoteca continue to accept unwrapped toy donations for local children. Rural Human Services and Les Schwab Tires are also serving as drop-off locations for those wishing to help brighten someone else’s Christmas morning.

And mark your calendars: The Singing Christmas Tree—a Crescent City hallmark and one of the county’s most cherished holiday traditions—returns to Foursquare Church this weekend. Performances will be held:

  • Friday, December 12 at 6 PM
  • Saturday, December 13 at 6 PM
  • Sunday, December 14 at 10 AM and 6 PM

If you’ve never been, go. If you’ve been before, you already know—there’s nothing quite like it.

Yes, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas across Del Norte County.
