Del Norte goes RED. State Goes BLUE on Proposition 50.
The so-called temporary congressional redistricting plan initiated by Gov. Gavin Newsom, eliminating five solid Republican districts from the already profoundly Democrat side of the political ledger, passed on a party-line vote up and down the Golden State. 64 percent to 36 percent was the final vote in favor of the Donkey.
In Del Norte County, the vote was decidedly opposite—RED.
Election Clerk Alissia Northrup reported a 42 percent voter turnout out of 15,000+ registered voters and released the unofficial vote totals pending certification of Prop. 50:
NO: 3,927 (58 percent)
YES: 2,844 (42 percent)
The so-called temporary measure is not credible and may pose unintended consequences for the Democrat Party, as several other states are considering similar temporary measures which, upon evaluation, may very well bolster Republican representation by as many as 19 additional districts in the House of Representatives.
Be careful what you wish for.
